Labor & Industry Museum - Belleville, Illinois History

Imagine the surprise two Americorps workers felt when the rafters of Charles Bornman's 1837 streethouse revealed the oldest item in the Labor & Industry Museum's collection!

This book of devotionals and pious sayings is printed in German and dated 1776. Translated handwritten notes read: "I will call the Lord with my troubles. Oh God hear my calling and give me comfort. Oh Lord I am grateful God is with me. Alleluia".
