Charles Born & Sons (John C. & William) Machinists was located at 123 N. Church St. in 1883. Charles, a cobbler by trade, opened the machine shop with his sons at the age of 50. They manufactured tools under the name "Crescent". They also manufactured items patented by John C. Born which included steam pumps, polishing lathes and grinders. In 1904, a foundry was added to the Machine Shop.

Born & Sons Machine Shop is now the Industrial Hall of the Labor & Industry Museum.
